Sulphur Creek Open Space Preserve/Turtle Bay East (17-46)
Conservation easement by Caltrans with site mitigation: Turtle Bay East, Willow Pond and Sulfur Creek Open Space Preserve.
This is a good example of a set of cross-over projects that are a combination of habitat mitigation and ecosystem restoration. This partnership between Western Shasta RCD, the Shasta Conservation Fund, the McConnell Foundation, Caltrans, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the City of Redding and the California Department of Fish & Wildlife provides conservation measures and mitigation for impacts resulting from the Dana to Downtown/Highway 44 and the Cypress Bridge projects adjacent to the Sacramento River.
